What is your opinion on electric cars? Do they truly save us from fossil fuel dependence, or are we being fooled into thinking that these vehicles will solve our environmental problems?
If you’ve been paying attention lately, you probably noticed that the word ‘electric’ keeps popping up. From Tesla to Chevy Bolt, electric cars are becoming more mainstream. Some believe that electric cars are the only way forward, while some say that electric cars won’t even come close to solving global warming issues.
Some experts predict that car sales could drop drastically within the next decade. However, electric cars seem to be doing well, especially with companies like Tesla releasing their new Model 3.

10 Best Electric Cars With The Longest Range In 2022!
Here are 10 electric cars that can last over 300 miles per charge.
1. 2022 Lucid Air Dream Edition R AWD With 19-Inch Wheels
Price: $169,000 (Excluding Destination Fee)
Maximum Electric Driving Range: 520 Miles
The Tesla Model S has been deposed, and the Lucid Air has replaced it as the long-range champion (at least for now). The 520-mile Dream R with AWD and 19-inch wheels is the longest-range Air and is available in various trims. Amazingly, every version of the Air has a more extended range than any other EV now on the market. The model with the lowest rating, the high-performance Dream P with the least-efficient 21-inch wheels, has a robust 451 miles of range.
2. 2022 Tesla Model S With 19-Inch Wheels
Price: $96,190, Including $1,200 Destination
Maximum Electric Driving Range: 405 Miles
The Tesla Model S is a fast, luxurious, and spacious electric sedan. Since its debut in 2012, the Model S has changed how people think about electric vehicles. A Model S is no golf cart, with sharp handling and acceleration that rivals some of the world’s fastest sports cars. According to the EPA, the standard Model S has a 405-mile driving range with 19-inch wheels. The more powerful Plaid version, which has smaller wheels, has a maximum range of 396 miles. Larger 21-inch wheels for each variant reduce the entire range. I think Tesla Model S has some new features and is supposed to be the longest-range electric car in 2023.
3. 2022 Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD With 18-Inch Wheels
Price: $47,190, Including $1,200 Destination
Maximum Electric Driving Range: 353 Miles
The Tesla Model 3 may be the Model S’s little brother in terms of overall size and price, but it isn’t outdone when delivering plenty of range. The available long-range version, which starts at around $47,000, supplies the most miles per charge. While the Standard Range Plus Model 3 has a good range of 263 miles and the powerful Performance range of 315 miles, the long-range version has a range of 353 miles.
4. 2022 Tesla Model X With 20-Inch Wheels
Price: $106,190, Including $1,200 Destination
Maximum Electric Driving Range: 351 Miles
Tesla has a significant presence on this list, thanks partly to the Model X SUV’s 351-mile range. The Model X has some oddball characteristics, such as a large windshield that curves over the front seats, back Falcon Wing doors that open upward, and an optional small third-row seat. The lithium-ion battery pack and electric motors are the parts of the Tesla Model X that are most likely to be considered normal. The Plaid model can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds, while the regular model offers the EPA-estimated 351 miles of range.
As of January 2022, the earlier available Long Range Plus variant and its 370-plus miles of range are not part of Tesla’s configurator.
5. 2022 Mercedes-EQ EQS 450 Plus
Price: $103,360, Including $1,050 Destination
Maximum Electric Driving Range: 350 Miles
The Mercedes-EQ EQS sedan is a brand-new vehicle for the 2022 model year, with the lower-level RWD and single-motor 450 Plus supplying the most extended range in the portfolio at a still-impressive 350 miles. The 580 variants, which has the most comprehensive coverage, loses 10 miles of range in return for an extra motor, AWD, and other features. Although we liked both the engines and the agility of the rear-wheel-steering sedans, we met difficulties with the expansive touchscreen display and Mercedes’ decision to rely heavily on touch-sensitive controls.
6. 2022 Tesla Model Y Long Range With 19-Inch Wheels
Price: $60,190, Including $1,200 Destination
Maximum Electric Driving Range: 330 Miles
The Model Y SUV was released for the 2020 model year and shared the same platform and drivetrain as the current Model 3 sedan. The Model Y features rapid steering responses and enough power to lock you into your seat during heavy acceleration, just like the Model 3. The Performance model, which has a range of 303 miles, is the best choice for those seeking maximum power.
7. 2022 BMW iX xDrive50
Price: $84,195, Including $995 Destination
Maximum Electric Driving Range: 324 Miles
With a decent maximum range of 324 miles, BMW’s first all-electric SUV, the iX, enters the list in the seventh position. You can travel that distance with 20-inch wheels and a less potent AWD xDrive50. With wider 21- or 22-inch wheels, prices rise and range declines; it even falls to 274 miles in the new performance-oriented 2023 iX M60. Although we don’t particularly like the iX’s exterior styling or touch-sensitive controls, we are looking forward to driving it.
8. 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning
Price: $74,269, Including $1,795 Destination
Maximum Electric Driving Range: 320 Miles
The predicted F-150 Lightning was expected to have a range of around 300 miles. Still, the all-electric version of Ford’s popular F-150 pickup outperformed that estimate, at least for the XLT and Lariat trims.
Both trucks have 320-mile maximum ranges with the optional extended-range battery pack. Only the extended-range group is included with the loaded Platinum, and its range is capped at 300 miles. The maximum capacity for Lightning trucks with the standard range is 230 miles.
Although buyers will have to pay more for an all-electric F-150 Lightning than a comparable gas-powered F-150, we have been highly impressed with how much the Lightning feels like a typical F-150.
9. 2022 Rivian R1S (Longest Range Electric Car 2022)
Price: $71,075, Including $1,075 Destination
Maximum Electric Driving Range: 316 Miles
Rivian’s first entry on this list is the R1S electric SUV, which will be the automaker’s second vehicle to hit the market. Despite the availability of all-terrain tires and various wheel sizes and styles, the EPA currently only has one range rating for the R1S. However, those options are likely to affect the overall range.
10. 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 RWD
Price: $53,875, Including $1,100 Destination
Maximum Electric Driving Range: 314 Miles
It is the cheapest electric car with longest range. The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E, introduced for the 2021 model year, has 314 miles of driving range, up from the EPA-estimated 305 miles of the 2021 model.
We found our time in the Mustang Mach-E to be hit or miss, with impressive power and sound tech marred by a harsh ride and occasional glitches. Good luck finding one, though: Ford announced in April that all orders for the 2022 Mustang Mach-E had been closed, following the closure of orders for specific trims, including the California Route 1.
